 Bentley Clark fell in love with the business of events working for University of New Mexico Public Events while earning her Bachelors Degree in English. She began to realize that every time a group of people gathers – no matter how large or small – there is a palpable and unique energy impossible to reproduce. Bentley learned that, with a helping hand, this energy could be guided and focused into truly extraordinary events. To better understand the business end of this dynamic, she earned a Masters Degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management with an emphasis in Event Management at New Mexico State University.
While a graduate student, Bentley was the Wine Competition Coordinator for the Southwest Wine Competition which included wineries from Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. During her graduate internship with Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, she created, coordinated and managed AIBF’s first-ever wine festival, Fiesta del Vino, in 2003. In 2005, Bentley presented a paper based on her Masters Thesis, “The Role of Special Events and Special Event Planners in Fundraising for Nonprofit Organizations,” at International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education national conference in Las Vegas. Additionally, the same paper was published in ICHRIE’s Gathering.
In addition to coordinating weddings in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Gallup, Bentley has worked on business meetings, political gatherings, bat mitzvahs, chamber music concerts and local festivals. She is also the local coordinator for GCG Event Partners, a nationwide network of meeting and event professionals.
Bentley is honored to be working with nonprofit organizations The Arc of New Mexico and National Dance Institute of New Mexico on their respective 2008 events. |
